The Transformer's Signal — Edition 34
19 October 2026
On 14 October 2026 Accenture's Chief Financial Officer, Angie Park, said Accenture will use its AI efficiencies "in three ways: passing value to clients, reinvesting the majority of what we retain into growth, and continuing to expand operating margin every year." She gave no figure for clients' share, and no mechanism. She said its revenue per person rose "approximately 5%" in FY26, "in part" from how it delivers: Accenture's own measure, not AI's effect, and silent on clients' prices.
Ask your integrator: of the AI efficiency in our contract, what share reaches our price, our scope or our own people, and where is that written?
The next results
We expect Cognizant, reporting its third-quarter results on Thursday 29 October 2026, to give no figure for the share of its AI efficiency that reaches a client's price. We are wrong if it gives one.
The pieces
- The Capability Brief, for you: the question and the clause.
- The Way Pointer, for your programme lead: a name of yours beside each forward-deployed engineer in your systems.
- The Early Adopter Signal, for the people on your workstreams: what to ask of every change.
- The PE Intelligence Report, for a portfolio partner: a new private-equity firm, some of whose engineers will sit on boards.
The forecasts printed on 12 and 5 October
The PE Intelligence Report said of Accenture's investor day: "We are wrong if it states a figure or a policy." Its Chief Financial Officer stated a policy. We were wrong. She gave no figure.
The Early Adopter Signal said: "we are wrong if it names a client and a result." Accenture named Renault Group and "EUR120 million a year", saying first that Renault had "spent seven years working on data foundations", and did not state its own part. By our own test, we were wrong. Accenture's speaker attributed the saving to the data foundation ("they've already saved by doing that") and went on that Renault is now "figuring out" an agentic layer on top.
The Capability Brief and this newsletter expected HCLTech (12 October) and Wipro (15 October) to give no measure of what a client's own staff can run afterwards. That held: HCLTech said it will help clients build capability, and Wipro described one win that includes capability building; neither gave such a measure. The Way Pointer expected the same of Accenture. That held; Accenture sells client upskilling through LearnVantage, with no such measure.
The Capability Brief of 5 October expected no signatory of the White House accord to name an independent auditor by Monday 12 October 2026. That held on the day; on 15 October 2026 Anthropic announced employee-like access for METR, which it said will publish its risk assessments.
Still running: SAP Compass's, printed 12 October, due Thursday 29 October 2026; and, printed 5 October, the PE Intelligence Report's, due Saturday 31 October 2026, and the Way Pointer's and this newsletter's, both due Monday 2 November 2026.
