The Transformer's Signal — Edition 33

12 October 2026

On 8 October 2026 Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported "Annualized AI Revenue at US$ 3.1 billion" for its July to September quarter, which "crosses 10% of Revenue". The category is TCS's own, one quarter annualised, and no measure of agents in delivery. We read TCS's and EY's results releases of 8 October. Neither says which tasks in a client's change programme the firm's agents do, and neither gives a measure of what the client's own staff can run afterwards. TCS's call, in Investing.com's transcript, comes nearest: it says TCS is "using AI to redesign processes and accelerate implementation" on one unnamed client's S/4HANA programme, without saying which work its agents do.

We think this is change being industrialised: the integrator is making the work a repeatable process on its side, and neither release measures the equivalent on yours.

Write down the names of your staff who can support each part of the system on go-live day. Then ask your integrator: where does your work have none of our staff beside it, and what helps them keep pace during the build? Worry about any part with no name against it.

The next results

Neither release measures what a client's staff can run afterwards. HCLTech's results are dated Monday 12 October 2026 and Wipro's Thursday 15 October 2026. We expect neither to give such a measure. We are wrong if either does; then ask your integrator for the same.

The pieces

  • The Capability Brief: the figure, the question and the list on one page.
  • The Way Pointer: the article, each firm's own words and the one page to write.
  • The PE Intelligence Report: the question for management, after Accenture told investors on 1 October 2026 that fixed-price work is "now over 65% of bookings".
  • The Early Adopter Signal: for your programme lead, how to put your people beside your integrator's agents.
  • SAP Compass: two SAP pages give two end dates for running its AI agents free of charge, and do not say whether they mean the same thing.

The forecasts printed on 5 October

The Early Adopter Signal said we did not expect OpenAI to commit, before Australia's Joint Select Committee on AI on Tuesday 6 October 2026, to a notification deadline stated in days. That held: Reuters' report of the hearing gave none.

The Capability Brief said that by Monday 12 October 2026 no company that signed the accord at the White House on 29 September 2026 would name its independent auditor, beyond arrangements announced before that date. That is still running.

So are three more. The PE Intelligence Report's: whether Oracle publishes the format of its outcome record, with a route for a third party to verify one, by Saturday 31 October 2026. The Way Pointer's: whether any lab or agent-platform vendor publishes a time-to-stop figure for its own agents by Monday 2 November 2026. This newsletter's: whether anyone but the vendor publishes a miss rate for a per-action reviewer by then.
